I know that it depends on many factors how high and long the peaks are. Currently we have measured peaks of 450 mA for 40-50 ms in our application. But is there a maximum possible time for the large current Peaks?

RE: nRF9160 – Peak current consumption

Hi Benjamin,

So the time will depend on the modem as it is the one in control for the power use when transmitting and receiving. But a main factor is the network solution, if LTE-M is used or NB-IoT. For NB-IoT the bitrate is lower which means the TX time has to be on for a longer period to transmit the same amount of data that LTE-M would for the same amount of data.

Link to nordic tech webinar (21 October) that will shed some lite on the power usage over time.

Regards,
Jonathan
