In our project, we have a BMD-300 module, which contains a nRF52832 chip, and a nRF52840DK. The BMD-300 module is used as peripheral and the nRF52840DK is used as central.
The BMD-300 module sends data via NUS to the nRF52840DK with a data

RE: Expected range when using NUS with a datarate of 40kBit/s (5kByte/s)

Hello,

This is highly dependent on the environment in your area, but generally ~5m does not sound a lot. It might be that the module antenna is not optimally if you have placed it incorrectly or something, you should compare with a NRF52 DK.

Also check out this range calculator from Bluetooth SIG: https://www.bluetooth.com/learn-about-bluetooth/bluetooth-technology/range/#estimator

Best regards,
