I guess it is a simple problem, but I am new to the nrf world, so here is my issue:

I want to use this code to switch on a LED by pressing the on board button (BSP_BUTTON_0) on my nrf dongle. But when I run it and press the button, no interrupt

RE: button handler interrupt - nrf52840 dongle

Ok, it took me a while.
It would be a lot easier to start on a Development Kit (DK) - rather than the dongle.
is there a way to get this code running without any softdevice?
yes: the SDK has examples of using the chip as just a microcontroller - with no BLE
why is it just working with it?
What else is in your code? Is it getting stuck in something which does require the softdevice?
