I just tested this with SoftDevice S120 2.0.0 and ble_app_hrs_c in SDK 8.0.0, it seems to be working fine. What SoftDevice and SDK version are you using? So you hit the breakpoint if you put it on m_dm_device_handle = (*p_handle); but not if you put it on err_code=ble_db_discovery_start(m_ble_db_discovery,p_event->event_param.p_gap_param->conn_handle); ?

Well, I didn't change anything, but I had to remove the bsp_indication_set(...) instructions because it doesn't work on my PCA10024. In fact, I managed to know that the line m_dm_device_handle = (*p_handle) is the one making the program stuck. I click run and the debug led just keeps blinking but nothing happens ...

Could you edit your question to include the code you changed in the example? What do you mean by gets stuck? Does it return an error? If so, add a breakpoint and check what the error code is (remember to turn set optimizations to Level 0 to see the error code).
