&lt;p&gt;Did you follow the instruction in the README.md? It seems that for some reason git submodule was not pulled (maybe internet was broken?).&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Since something went wrong in the repo fetching process I would recommend performing set up from scratch again.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Alternatively, you can just try to pull submodules again:&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;pre class="ui-code" data-mode="batchfile"&gt;cd /var/chip
git submodule update --init&lt;/pre&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I have not tested the CHIP project. Is it supported at this point?&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The compiler complaints because it can&amp;#39;t find the file &amp;quot;nlbyteorder.hpp&amp;quot;. That is not part of NCS. Is it part of the CHIP project? If so, can you check that it is downloaded properly?&lt;/p&gt;
