&lt;p&gt;JLink tools support our tool &amp;quot;nrfjprog&amp;quot;, which has nRF specific commands. This is supported by us.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;OpenOCD has some support for these, but it&amp;nbsp;depends&amp;nbsp;on which version you&amp;#39;re using. This is supported by a 3rd party community.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;One big plus for openocd is the thread awareness which is supported in zephyr:&amp;nbsp;&lt;a href="https://docs.zephyrproject.org/latest/reference/kconfig/CONFIG_OPENOCD_SUPPORT.html"&gt;https://docs.zephyrproject.org/latest/reference/kconfig/CONFIG_OPENOCD_SUPPORT.html&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;JLink does not have&amp;nbsp;zephyr-awareness in their gdbserver yet (see the docs here:&amp;nbsp;&lt;a href="https://docs.zephyrproject.org/latest/guides/debugging/host-tools.html#j-link-debug-host-tools"&gt;https://docs.zephyrproject.org/latest/guides/debugging/host-tools.html#j-link-debug-host-tools&lt;/a&gt;), but there is support for Segger SystemViewer:&amp;nbsp;&lt;a href="https://developer.nordicsemi.com/nRF_Connect_SDK/doc/latest/zephyr/guides/tracing/index.html#segger-systemview-support"&gt;https://developer.nordicsemi.com/nRF_Connect_SDK/doc/latest/zephyr/guides/tracing/index.html#segger-systemview-support&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;My suggestion is that you can try both DAPlink and JLink and evaluate which one suits your development needs.&lt;/p&gt;
