I have formed a Thread network and I am trying to ping an external IPv4 address and that request is not being forwarded to the border router.
My OTBR is a Raspberry Pi with a nrf52840 USB dongle (with RCP) configured without the WiFi hotspot

RE: TAYGA NAT64 not receiving requests from Thread Network

I've found out that I need to form the network every time the the gateway is rebooted.
Please double check that you've done all the preliminary steps that are required before this step, as the setup procedure is rather large I imagine there are quite a few ways to do something wrong.

Best regards,

I am using Raspberry Pi 3 as it the recommended platform.

I've just tried your Raspberry Pi image and joined a new device to the network it is created by default "NordicOpenThread" using:

panid 0xabcd
ifconfig up
thread start

Like it is stated on the guide, however the ping fails to get an answer:

uart:~$ ot ping 64:ff9b::0808:0808
Done

RE: TAYGA NAT64 not receiving requests from Thread Network

Hi

What kind of Raspberry Pi are you using? I see that the guide you linked to is for Raspberry Pi 3B, so if you're using another RPi it might not work as intended. If you want to use the border router FW that we provide you should check out our Thread border router guide on the Infocenter, as the nRFConnect SDK does not provide the complete Thread Border Router solution. If you use the border router firmware alongside the OpenThread guide you linked to, NAT64 should work as explained. The border router FW that we provide is based on this repo: https://github.com/NordicPlayground/nordic-ot-border-router

You can also check out this DevZone case, where my colleague Edvin answers a few questions on IPv4 versus IPv6 for an OTBR.

Best regards,
