We used one German SIM card(1NCE) on both of our product and 9160 dk, in both cases the recv() hangs after the downloading started at some point. I tried all nrf sdk versions(1.4.0; 1.3.0; 1.2.0) and most modem version(mfw_nrf9160_1.2.0, mfw_nrf9160_1

RE: recv() hangs

Hi,

That could have to do with the CONFIG_APPLICATION_VERSION configuration. This needs to be 2 for the image uploaded to the S3 bucket and 1 for the application flashed to the DK.

The app_update.bin file on the nrfconnectsdk should have the correct application version since it was uploaded by a Nordic developer, so make sure the app you're flashing to your device has the application version 1.

Best regards,

 I run the http_application_update sample from V1.3.0 on 9160 DK and modem version is mfw_nrf9160_1.2.1;

 I met another issue, after the download app_update.bin from nrfconnectsdk.s3.eu-central-1.amazonaws.com, I use 1 sysreboot(0) or 2: press the reset button. Both way end up still the old image boot up instead of the new downloaded image.

Do you know why? Am I missing a config flag or the app_update.bin is damaged?

RE: recv() hangs

Hi Heidi,

Thanks for your time. I was unable to reproduce the hanging bug in last weekend,

But I still not feeling safe, it may hangs in real product in the field. I will try to reproduce it again. Sooner or later. Thanks

RE: recv() hangs

Hi, I am unable to reproduce the issue you're describing. Thank you. I will see if I can reproduce this issue. It could be a problem with your network, in which we will need a modem trace to look into it further.

2. Okay, I see what you are asking. The application is the HTTP application update sample from NCS 1.4.0, nrf commit 5522ca2b5f4c93eab5229f2f3f0e7bd08389cbe8.

Have you set up your own bucket for testing? I see from the log it still says

"Connected to nrfconnectsdk.s3.eu-central-1.amazonaws.com".

Remember to change CONFIG_DOWNLOAD_HOST to your own server.

RE: recv() hangs

1.
The last the line is where the recv() hangs. And then no more prints.

2. I know I built my app_update.bin with nrf version V1.3.0 . That is not what I am asking.

I mean, the HTTP application update sample by default downloads an .bin file from nrfconnectsdk.s3.eu-central-1.amazonaws.com bucket. It was Nordic developer uploaded it, so everyone can run the HTTP application update sample can download this public .bin file without needing to uploading their own .bin file. I want to know what version was used to created this public .bin file. Because this .bin file used an old but bug free nrf sdk(I think.)

RE: recv() hangs

Hi!

Could I please have the full log in a text file?

Are you using HTTP application update in NCS out-of-box or a modified version or your own application?
which version of nrf sdk does the app_update.bin use?
The app_update.bin on your AWS server is a file you have uploaded, so which NCS version it's built with depends on what you built the application with.
