Advertising on 1MBPs is right around where it should be ~30uA. Advertising interval is 500ms. We are using NRF52840 DK. Is there a reason why there's such big

RE: Current consumption when advertising on CODED

i have the same question.

with dcdc on ,coded phy with 20 ms interval and a timeout of 15 sec's the current consumption on the multimeter is 3mA.

and with same configuration with 1Mbps it is 700uA.

i cant increase the interval because i have to connect the devices over a long distance.

my question is,can the current with coded phy reduced further?

RE: Current consumption when advertising on CODED

Hi

The radio HW operates in the exact same way in Coded PHY as in the 1MBPS PHY, but in order to transfer X kB, it needs to transmit 8* X symbols in Coded PHY (S=8), and therefore the radio has to stay active 8 times as long. This means that the total charge/energy used will be ~8 times higher in Coded PHY than on the Uncoded PHYs. The peak current will be the same, but it will take a longer time to complete the transmission.

Best regards,
