Good to hear! The PDK will be deprecated in future releases of the nRF Connect SDK, with the last supported version being 1.4.x. Hence, I would recommend upgrading to the DK instead. As for current hickups with the PDK I suggest checking out the errata.

For further evaluation purposes, are there anymore hickups with the old PDK that I should be aware of?
Would you suggest using the newer nRF5340-DK instead?

Hi!

You are supposed to see three ports when connecting one HW. One is for the application core serial com, one is reserved for the network core, while I'm not sure for the last one.

As for your application trouble, there is an issue with version 0.8 of the PDK that makes applications fail when built as non-secure. It should be fixed by applying the following pull request.
