I noticed (as highlighted in screenshot below) some of the IP based BLE projects under “Experimental: IoT Examples” found in all previous versions of nRF5 SDK that I can recall, going back to 14.1.0. But they are missing now, in nRF5- SDK v17.0

RE: missing BLE “Experimental: IoT Examples” in nRF5 SDK v17.0.2

I think it is so fundamentally different that migration/porting is not straight forward, but you may find some guides here useful:
https://devzone.nordicsemi.com/nordic/nrf-connect-sdk-guides/

For instance this one describe moving a BLE application from nRF5 SDK to NCS:
https://devzone.nordicsemi.com/nordic/nrf-connect-sdk-guides/b/software/posts/building-a-ble-application-on-ncs-comparing-and-contrasting-to-softdevice-based-ble-applications

RE: missing BLE “Experimental: IoT Examples” in nRF5 SDK v17.0.2

Thanks Kenneth,

Understood, will plan on continuing with NCS - in order for us to do that effectively, is there a migration app note/
guidance of some sort walking us through bringing nRF5 project (app/ samples) to NCS? We've come to rely on
some of the nRF5 projects that we need on NCS - such as these Experimental: IoT Examples mentioned above.

Please advise.

Best,
SE

RE: missing BLE “Experimental: IoT Examples” in nRF5 SDK v17.0.2

Hi,

For future development I recommend to check out nRF Connect SDK instead;
http://developer.nordicsemi.com/nRF_Connect_SDK/doc/latest/nrf/samples.html#

There should not be a problem to continue to work on the nRF5 SDK v16 implementation, but I don't think there are any plans to extend or add new functionality to the nRF5 SDK.

Best regards,
Kenneth
