I want to ask you about your plans for the NRF9160 chip. It is a fascinating device, but there is one possible disadvantage. Please let me explain.

The first version is already available on the master branch. You can find the latest documentation here: https://developer.nordicsemi.com/nRF_Connect_SDK/doc/latest/nrfxlib/nrf_modem/README.html

I believe the biggest reason for the name change was that the bsdlib isn't really providing a BSD socket compliant interface anymore, but also because it is providing much more than just a close-but-not-quite BSD socket interface.

It should still be RTOS independent.

RE: NRF9160 Development with KEIL uVision and non-Zephyr RTOS

Thank you very much.
It is possible to use the nRF9160 without Zephyr.

The modem communication is handled by the bsdlib (soon to be modemlib), which is RTOS independent.

In NCS, we use Zephyr's socket API, but the functionality has been offloaded to bsdlib and the modem.

The drivers are also based on the nrfx drivers, which again are RTOS independent.

You can find information about how to port bsdlib to your RTOS here: https://developer.nordicsemi.com/nRF_Connect_SDK/doc/1.4.2/nrfxlib/bsdlib/doc/ug_bsdlib_porting_os.html

While I don't have much experience with Keil myself, I believe it should be possible to use Keil with bsdlib.

Best regards,

Didrik
