Just as an FYI follow-up. I found a workaround with this problem. If you start SES from the command line, the problem does not happen - build, flash and debug all work fine. So it looks like the problem is with SES finding the wrong Python. The only Python version on my Mac that does not have yaml installed is the system version 2.7

Hi Jonathan,

Thank you for your response. I figured the same overnight. Today, I have been able to build and flash a BT app for the nRF5340DK board using segregated directories for Zephyr and ARM toolchain so I think I'm almost where I want to be.

Hi Andrew,

Maybe setting up the environment manually is the way to go for you if you want control over everything.

Manually install: Installing the nRF Connect SDK manually — nRF Connect SDK 1.4.99 documentation (nordicsemi.com)

Terminal guide: https://developer.nordicsemi.com/nRF_Connect_SDK/doc/latest/nrf/gs_installing.html#setting-up-the-command-line-build-environment

You will then be able to build and flash from the terminal.
