It shouldn't really matter I believe. You should probably go with the official one though, since that's the one that's maintained as you mentioned.

The sample you linked was not modified since 2019.. The current udp sample also has the options to use psm or edrx. Is there any reason you link to the old one?

I'm wondering because I'd also like to combine the udp and the gps samples but I'm struggling with it

Hello,

you need PSM or eDRX enabled for GPS and UDP to work together. So you can start with this sample, and add GPS functionality to it.
