&lt;p&gt;Yes, both the nRF52833 and nRF52840 can be used to realise this as both have 802.15.4 capable radio.&lt;/p&gt;

You can also download the HW design files for the development kits &lt;a href="https://www.nordicsemi.com/Software-and-tools/Development-Kits/nRF52833-DK"&gt;here&lt;/a&gt;&amp;nbsp;and &lt;a href="https://www.nordicsemi.com/Software-and-tools/Development-Kits/nRF52840-DK"&gt;here&lt;/a&gt;.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;There are two options going forward. Up to now, we provided the &lt;a href="https://www.nordicsemi.com/Software-and-tools/Software/nRF5-SDK-for-Thread-and-Zigbee"&gt;nRF5 SDK for Thread and Zigbee&lt;/a&gt;. This is more mature, but will not get much updates going forward. The other alternative is the newer &lt;a href="https://www.nordicsemi.com/Software-and-tools/Software/nRF-Connect-SDK"&gt;nRF Connect SDK&lt;/a&gt;, which is less mature but is the way to go going forward.
