@awneil: I'm sorry indeed for the inconvenience you've experienced. I will report this internally so we can improve the documentation in the future.

"pplication" issue : It's definitely a typo and then a copy paste bug.
"nRF51822" mentioned: It's again a copy paste bug. We mainly copied the documentation from the bootloader for S110 to the S310 page.
"must be v7.0.0." : same explanation as above. The documentation was talking about S110 v7.0.0. If you use S310 v2.0.0 or up you should be fine.
The documentation wasn't fully updated with SDK v7.0 where the PCA10028, which has a nRF51422 on it, is targeted. Before it was the nRF51822 on our Development kit. Same with the "three targets" issue, it was what implemented on SDK v6.x and we didn't updated it on the documentation.

However, the documentation for bootloader was re-factorized from SDK v8.0 and looked much better. Unfortunately the support for S310 is removed in SDK v8.x, because we are waiting for the coming version of the S310 to be API aligned with the current version of S110 v8.0.

This is not true!

It seems that they are actually supplied as separate Bootloader/DFU Keil projects.

And the names in the online documentation do not match the actual project names at all.

And, of course, the examples are called "dfu_dual_bank_ble_pca10028", "dfu_single_bank_ble_pca10028", and "dfu_dual_bank_serial_pca10028" - and the PCA10028 has an nRF51422 on it!
