No, it does not mean that.

Setting CONFIG_CLOCK_CONTROL_NRF_K32SRC_XTAL=n will make it such that the crystal oscillator will not be used as a LFCLK source, and it will not affect the HFCLK source.

Hello Simon, I used the same configs to make my custom board work. But can you please explain what these configs do, (documentation doesn't provide much info)?

I have used a 32MHz external crystal on my custom design. Does CONFIG_CLOCK_CONTROL_NRF_K32SRC_XTAL=n mean that I am not using this crystal as a clock? Cuz that doesn't seem right...

Could you try to set these in <board name>_defconfig of your custom board folder

CONFIG_CLOCK_CONTROL_NRF_K32SRC_RC=y
CONFIG_CLOCK_CONTROL_NRF_K32SRC_XTAL=n

Check the file <sample>/<build folder>/zephyr/config to confirm that these configs are set correctly.

From some work I did earlier with a custom board running NCS BLE samples, I remember I had to set CONFIG_BT_SMP=y for it to work, but I don't remember/can't explain why at the moment.
