In the reference design of "nRF51822-QFAA_ST_BAL-NRF01D3", the datasheet recommends this crystal ( www.digikey.com/.../3125558) , but we are out of stock from local distributors now. So we plan to use this one instead ( www.digikey.com/.../1468354

RE: crystal selection

Hi,

Well, we try using 12pF load cap crystal on nRF51822, it gets disconnected right after connect on master control panel. Replace with 8pF load cap crystal. Works fine after that.

It seems the start up of the crystal is very critical?

Thanks,
Poh

RE: crystal selection

Thanks Håkon.

RE: crystal selection

Hi,

Those two crystals are fairly equal (same manufacturer and series).
As long as you keep under +/- 40 ppm overall drift for BLE applications and +/- 60 ppm for proprietary applications, you should be OK. Other electrical specs are also within the specs for the nRF-device.

There should not be a problem using this xtal.

Best regards
