we are developing a custom board based on nrf9160 that include CAN bus. When updating nRF Connect SDK from v1.4.2 to v1.5.0 we can not get CAN-bus up and running again. Problem can be reproduced on nrf91DK and can bus example (zephyr/samples/drivers

RE: Problem running CAN bus example in nRF Connect SDK v1.5.0

Finally got some time and the new logic analyzer in place - after some troubleshooting we found two bugs in sdk 1.5.1 - then realized that both have been corrected in upstream zephyr - in other words you can close this issue. We have thought the same but unfortunately our logic analyzer now seems to be lost. Will have to look into buying a new one and continue troubleshooting before moving up to 1.5.0 then.

RE: Problem running CAN bus example in nRF Connect SDK v1.5.0

Sorry for the late reply.

Are you able to use a logic analyzer to capture the communication between the nRF9160 and the MCP2515?

It would be interresting to compare the SPI communication and commands sent between v1.4.2 and v1.5.0.

Looking at the code for the CAN driver, when it is configured to use loopback mode, the messages never leave the nRF9160. So loopback mode cannot be used to test the MCP2515.

RE: Problem running CAN bus example in nRF Connect SDK v1.5.0

Hi,

there are no other nodes on the bus besides a PC-dongle connected to PCAN-View. It does not send any messages on the bus and when sending messages from the dongle to v.1.5.0 application is looks like CAN RX goes permanently low. Same setup everything works under v1.4.2.

We don't see any errors even if enabling debug printouts on CAN driver.

Are there other nodes on the CAN bus that is ACK'ing the messages sent from the CAN-controller?
