As the Smart Remote already works over BLE it should be discoverable by an iOS app like nRFConnect for instance. We are not very competent iOS developers though, so how you implement this into your own app would be up to you. The source code for nRFConnect is not available, but you can refer to the nRF-Toolbox source code.

Hi Simon,

This device is using Smart Remote 3 to transfer audio to Linux system, I want to be able to do same in iOS by writing an app for it? Can you please tell how that would be possible in iOS?

Do you have the source of this video? I don't think it is made by us here at Nordic, but it seems to be based on the Audio module in our Smart Remote 3 firmware (downloadable here), so you can use that for reference, but please note that it will need some modifications to work on an nRF52840 DK and with IOS. This is the only kind of voice over BLE we have available. You can also check out the Smart Remote 3 User Guide here. The Smart Remote 3 is also described in this blog post.

Thanks for the reply. Can you please check following video. It's using nRF52840 to transmit voice from the device to Linux. Ain't this being done over Bluetooth LE Voice:

I'm sorry, but we don't have a working solution for doing Voice over HID I'm afraid. It sounds like you are interested in audio over BLE though, so you should check out the (currently in development) Bluetooth LE Audio spec. This blog post on Bluetooth LE Audio was posted just before the holidays in 2020 should be of interest.

Additional information which might be interesting: Last year, we (in partnership with Packetcraft) launched an LE Audio Evaluation platform, using the nRF52832 for radio communication, alongside the CS47L35 smart codec to provide an evaluation platform for LE Audio. More details here.
