I can confirm it is an issue with the toolchain setup.

I just tested on a Ubuntu 20.04 environment ant it worked, so that lead me to try newer versions of the toolchain.

Since I was trying them in different locations other than the `Homebrew` prefix, they were all working, including `9-2019-q4-major` when installed to a different location.

This leads me to believe that something in `/usr/local` is interfering in the linking.

To solve this problem and keep the toolchain installable by using `Homebrew`, I passed its Cellar path to `GNUARMEMB_TOOLCHAIN_PATH` directly:

```
$ export GNUARMEMB_TOOLCHAIN_PATH=/usr/local/Cellar/arm-none-eabi-gcc/9-2019-q4-major/gcc
```

I recently build the coap-client application in NCS v1.5.0 for nrf52840dk_nrf52840 and it went through on my computer.

What operating system are you using? Have you upgraded to v1.5.0 via Toolchain Manager or manually via Git?
