You need to implement the buttonless DFU service in your application, in the exact same way as is demonstrated in the ble_app_buttonless_dfu application. Simply copy what is done there.

hi Einar,

i am confused, i have my own application code can we only add buttonless DFU service and his related .c files. so we can enter dfu mode only power off then on without press any button . if any other changes in our application can u suggest me for this

Hi,

Did the firmware you updated to (with the advertising name "Nordic_HRM" have the buttonless DFU service? If not (which is probably the case as it is not included in the HRM SDK example), you cannot enter DFU mode directly with this application. So you need to enter DFU mode via a button press when power-cycling the device (bootloader supports other options as well, depending on what was enabled). (If you had updated to the buttonless DFU application again (same as before), you would be able to do buttonless DFU again as it has the buttonless DFU service.)

The key point here is that if you intend to use buttonless DFU, then you need to add the DFU service to your application, in the same way as it is one in the buttonless DFU application.

Hello Einar ,

as per your suggestion i am doing this so first i flash secure bootloader with sd + ble_app_buttonless_dfu application +bl setting now i am looking ( ble advertise ) "Nordic_Buttonless" device name. and click dfu and upload hrs_fw.zip . and ( ble advertise ) "Nordic_HRM" device name. now my doubt is how we enter again dfu mode for upload new fw.

Did you also flash the bootlaoder? If you flash just the ble_app_buttonless_dfu example and SoftDevice (and BL settings) but not the bootloader, the bootloader will not run, and also the ble_app_buttonless_dfu app will hit an error as it checks if a bootlaoder is present. So if you did not flash a bootoader, it is expected that you do not see any advertising. The nRF will simply be stuck in a loop where it starts, detects an error, resets, detect the error, reset, and so on.

flash the application with soft device , in nrf connect app how we can look dfutrag device name for upload my zip_application folder with soft device and bootloader setting.

Hi,

It is not enough to build and flash the application and SoftDevice. You also need the bootloader, and bootloader settings page. I suggest you start by going through Getting started with Nordic's Secure DFU bootloader, a step by step guide.
