Hi, and sorry for the very late answer.

It seems like you also have to send the AT command to start modem traces from the modem:
AT%XMODEMTRACE=1,2

This command must be sent while the modem is offline, so it might be easiest to do with the at_client application which doesn't start the modem automatically.

Alternatively, you can take out the SIM card, and send AT+CFUN=4 then AT%XMODEMTRACE=1,2.

In either case, if you also add AT+CFUN=0, the settings will be stored in flash, so you can reboot the Thingy and it will still send traces.

However, this is probably a network problem, which iBasis Tech Support might be able to help you with.

Hi,

Now I followed all steps:

1. write img_fota_dfu_hex/debug/thingy91_ltem_2021-03-04_8e8c6089.hex to nRF9160

2. write img_fota_dfu_hex/thingy91_nrf52_connectivity_bridge_2021-03-04_8e8c6089.hex to nRF52840

3. Opened Trace Collector, selected 2nd serial port, disabled Auto device/port filter and started capture.

But still there is no data collecting by the trace collector as you can see on following picture:

any further ideas?

The .hex file to use would be app_signed.hex.

We have pre-compiled files available on our website: https://developer.nordicsemi.com/nRF_Connect_SDK/doc/latest/mcuboot/readme-ncs.html

When using MCUBoot and the Programmer app, you must use the files in the img_fota_dfu_hex folder, and to get modem traces, you must use the files from the debug folder.

Remember to use the connectivity_bridge on the nRF52840.

As you say, the nRF9160 finds a network, which it tries to attach to.

However, it is rejected with ESM cause #29: User authentication failure.

Could you take a modem trace, so we can look at the communication between the modem and the network?
