Used nrftool's genpkg to generate the zip files from generated .hex files. And updated phone to 5.1.1 the packages can now be bootloaded using the nrftoolbox on android.

Ok so I updated my android phone to 5.1.1 and now it seems to be working. I do have a few more questions in regards to the DFU. I will make a sperate blog post and link here as the questions do not apply to this thread specifically.

@Lucas: I meant the SDK's bootloader example. Which modification did you make with the bootloader ?

Could you provide the hex files that demonstrate the issue? You don't have to test with your application, you can use the SDK's ble_app_hrs_dfu (button-less) example to test DFU.

I am not testing with an SDK example. What is a good example project to try this with? I am not using the default bootloader. I had to modify slightly to make it work for our application.

@Lucas: Could you try to read out the flash image before and after updating using button-less DFU. I would like to have the hexes for both case when you update using nRFToolbox on Android and on iOS. We can compare them and find out what could be wrong.

In addition you can try to run the bootloader and the application in debug mode to see where it get stuck.

I assume you are testing with the SDK examples without any modification.
