&lt;p&gt;Thanks for the tips. I have setup a new Kali Linux box to try out the NRF Connect SDK and nRF52840 USB dongle. I will go back to set it up on MacOS once I get the experience and confidence on the Nordic products. I will certainly try to follow your tips below. I took a peek at the link that leads to the Zyphyr project.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I would recommend installing NCS using the Toolchain Manager as described&amp;nbsp;&lt;a href="https://developer.nordicsemi.com/nRF_Connect_SDK/doc/1.5.1/nrf/gs_assistant.html#toolchain-manager"&gt;here&lt;/a&gt;. I know the documentation states that&amp;nbsp;it is for Windows only, but it works for macOS as well.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;You can also install it manually using the guide found&amp;nbsp;&lt;a href="https://developer.nordicsemi.com/nRF_Connect_SDK/doc/1.5.1/nrf/gs_installing.html"&gt;here&lt;/a&gt;. This one also use Homebrew for installing dependencies, but if you look at the&amp;nbsp;&lt;a href="https://developer.nordicsemi.com/nRF_Connect_SDK/doc/1.5.1/zephyr/getting_started/installation_mac.html#mac-setup-alts"&gt;macOS alternative setup instructions&lt;/a&gt;, you can see that it is possible to use MacPorts instead, although it is not officially supported. If you do so, then you must also install rust and cargo for the Python dependencies to install correctly.&lt;/p&gt;
