I needed assistance to get the SKY66112-11 FEM working with the Radio Test Example, for certification testing (FCC, CE etc). I am using the NCS 1.5.1 SDK. I have followed the following link. I am using a custom board with nRF52832 SoC and it has

RE: FEM Support For Radio Test Example on custom board

Thanks run_ar I'll test this out.

RE: FEM Support For Radio Test Example on custom board

Hi,

For TX see: Transmit sequence Enable the ePA at the same time as TASKS_TXEN. The ramp up time of the radio is 40µs which is usually enough. Alternatively start a timer at this event an enable the ePA closer to the EVENTS_READY event, but some time is needed for the ePA to ramp up as well. Use EVENTS_END to disable the ePA.

For RX, see:Receive sequence. Similar as tx, use TASKS_RXEN. 40µs ramp up. Use EVENTS_END to disable the eLNA (if there is one). If you are not using a eLNA, just keep the ePa in bypass mode when TX is disabled for the test.

RE: FEM Support For Radio Test Example on custom board

Yes currently we have set the GPIO signals such that the PA will be continuously in transmit mode. As the test require the device to be transmitting most of the time.

Regarding toggling between tx/rx manually, at what event we should be doing this toggle?

RE: FEM Support For Radio Test Example on custom board

Hi,

Sorry for the late answer. Unfortunately there is no radio test firmware that supports the skyworks fem at the time being. I am trying to find out what plans we have for this in the future. Regardless, in the short term, you need to update the firmware to toggle the tx/rx pins of the skywork fem for you. It might also be possible to "hardwire" the fem in tx state for the tx output power test.

RE: FEM Support For Radio Test Example on custom board

Hi, Any update on this query?

RE: FEM Support For Radio Test Example on custom board

So what firmware should I give for Radio certification testing when my custom board is having Skyworks FEM.
Unfortunately the skyworks FEM is not supported by the radio test example. one possible workaround would be to use a PPI fork on the radio events and connect this to gpio's using GPIOTE. But this will not give you the same timing as you have in MPSL, so might not be suitable if you want to test settling time for the ePA. Toggling will happen earlier than it does in actual implementation.

RE: FEM Support For Radio Test Example on custom board

Hi,
