This doesn't seem to work anymore with nRF Toolbox 2.0 (May 29, 2015) and iOS 8.3. nRF Toolbox does not show up as an 'open in' app for .zip files. It worked with some previous version.

From the Apple Mail app a long press on an attachment will work for .hex files. But it doesn't show up as an 'open in' option from .zip or .hex files in google drive.

I am not sure how opening .hex files is of any use with the newer DFU. The app just says "DFU application.dat is missing. It must be placed inside zip file with application". After acknowledging the dialog, the app promptly crashes.

I guess you can go the iTunes route, but that is a fairly torturous.

Thanks ! Just to mention, the "Mail" application also nailed it, sending HEX files, then opening them with nRF toolbox.

You could use Google Drive or Dropbox to retrieve the binaries from the web. Hopefully this answers your question.
