The distance between adjacent antennas should be not more than 6.12 cm (half of wavelength). An accuracy depends on algorithm used to handle phase data (12 antennas is quite enough for accurate measurement).
Is it possible to use different 52833 modules and place them far from each other - and combine the data to analyze the IQ and achieve much greater accuracy with long distance targets?
Two different modules cannot be synchronized at RF frequency level - of course, you can combine data from them and take an average but there's no way to get phase difference between two modules.
Is it possible to use long range 52833 (e.g. 800 m) instead of short (few meters)?
Direction finding works only at 1M and 2M PHY. In fact, phase detection doesn't depend on higher layer modulation - if your project uses custom protocol, you can use long range for data exchange and 1M/2M for AoA measurement, but I doubt that you can achieve an acceptable accuracy at 800m.
