hello, what would NRF5340-QKAA-R or NRF5340-QKAA-R7 from the original screenshot imply. It doesn't seem to match the scheme outlined in the datasheet, ie it seems to be missing a build code. Can you clarify what revision (A, D, 1) those parts could be?

Hello Steven!

1) Yes, mainly (if not only) prototyping and developing. However, as revision 1 is released, one might as well use that for development as well. For more info about why they are selling you should ask the distributers.

2) Exactly, engineering samples aren't recommended, in other words neither Engineering A nor D. And when the IC revision isn't specified, it shouldn't be an engineering sample (however, we don't have complete control over our distributors).

3) Ah yes, that is an actual misprint on the infocenter, and it is going to get fixed soon. The correct information about the package variants is in the Product Specification. Sorry about that!

Thanks Elfving. According to your links, I have a few more questions.

1) nRF5340-QKAA-AB0 is revision Engineering A, which is not recommended for an end product. But why it's still selling from some distributors? Is it just for prototyping? (see image 1)

2) Do you mean both Engineering A and D are NOT recommended for an end product. Only IC revision 1 is for the end product, right? (see image 1)

3) From this link, I only found aQFN94 7*7mm package. I didn't see WLCSP95 4.4 x 4.0 mm package. Why is that, please? (see image 2)

Hi Steven!

Those numbers refer to the build code, package variant and container code. For more info about this please check out section 12.3 in the product specification and the tables on Infocenter.

What might be most notable is that the engineering revisions are not recommended for an end product, and that "DK" refers to the Development Kit for nRF5340, which is certainly different than just the nRF5340 chip itself.
