Using SDK14.0.0, soft device: s132_nrf52_5.0.0
If Segger embedded used them use latest sdk as below, because sdk 14.0.0 has no support for segger embedded.

Sorry about the delayed reply, but I've struggled to get this project up and running for debugging on my end, as there are so many custom .c and header files as well as updated files from SDK v14.0.0 to SDk v17.0.2. It's not enough simply copying the main file to the multirole example of SDK v17.0.2, and I have not had any luck trying to patch it up. What I have tested is the provided .hex file where I was able to see the current consumption with DCDC disabled that you're reporting. I will need a project that is possible to build and run on a DK and edit on our end to actually do any debugging on your project.

We would like to test it here as we're struggling to make sense of the questions in your initial ticket:

1. DCDC enabled/disabled should not have this big of a difference in sleep current.

2. When the switches are floating when not pushed the input will float up and down, and the current consumption will be in the 100uA range. This is expected.

A suggestion of what might be causing this ~300uA consumption could be that the HFXO clock is running. What is the RX duty cycle for the central? If the idle period is short the HFXO might be running continuously. However, this should not change when enabling/disabling the DCDC regulator.

Best regards,

In FreeRTOS if device is in idle state it call API sd_app_evt_wait() this API available in external\freertos\portable\CMSIS\nrf52\port_cmsis_systick.c file .

When DCDC Mode enable device sleep current is ok for both central and peripheral mode.Iissue observed only if DCDC Mode disable .

I tested your application and the current consumption seems off indeed. I discussed this case with a colleague, and we wouldn't recommend using a FreeRTOS port that's this old (SDK 14) as there are two known bugs in SDK 14 related to FreeRTOS. They're listed here in the SDK 14.x.0 known issues.

Please note that the fact that it draws the expected amount of current (3uA) in peripheral mode points to this not being a FreeRTOS related issue specifically, as it seems like the RTOS is behaving as expected. I was not able to see how the central is put into sleep mode, can you provide any details on how this is done?

Best regards,

It is reproducible on a Development kit of nRF52832. They are using custom board also.

Latest result values measured on current meter not on Power profiler.

Is this reproducible on a Development Kit or are they using a custom board?

I'm think that something is still running on the central-side of the application when they try going to sleep. How are you measuring the current draw on your device? If you're using the Power profiler, I would like to see a graph of the current consumption, maybe that might give us an idea of why the central draws so much power.

Best regards,
