&lt;p lang="en-GB"&gt;No, that is not possible. You have to use a Nb-IoT (or LTE-M if supported) SIM card with the nRF9160.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p lang="en-GB"&gt;yes, you can use any IoT SIM card you like as long as it meets the &lt;a href="https://infocenter.nordicsemi.com/index.jsp?topic=%2Fps_nrf9160%2Fip%2Fradio_lte%2Fdoc%2Fsimif_lte_m%2Ffrontpage.html&amp;amp;cp=2_0_0_6_1"&gt;SIM card interface &lt;/a&gt;requirements and the provider has a proper agreement with the network operator(s) the device is supposed to connect to.&lt;/p&gt;
