&lt;p&gt;You can assign almost any GPIO for the UART RX and TX pin (see &lt;span&gt;&lt;a title="GPIO usage restrictions" href="https://infocenter.nordicsemi.com/topic/com.nordic.infocenter.nrf52832.ps.v1.1/pin.html?cp=4_2_0_3_2#concept_rfc_x1z_2q"&gt;GPIO usage restrictions&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/span&gt; for pins you should avoid), but I guess what you are trying to find out is which of the GPIO pins are connected to the VCOM bridge on your board?
