To start with the nRF5340, you need to install nRF connect SDK, which can be done through the "nRF Connect for desktop", application "toolchain manager":

Once the toolchain manager is installed, you can follow this guide which is specific to the nrf5340dk:

Yes, the nrf_esb library can be built with the nRF5340 network core board:

The application cpu must be programmed first, because this cpu core enables the network core.

You then compile and load this project for board nrf5340dk_nrf5340_cpuapp:

Then you load the wanted ESB sample for board "nrf5340dk_nrf5340_cpunet".
