Sorry for the late answer, the hint about the trace colleccotr v2 helped me a lot. It was a problem with the firewall of the MQTT server. Thanks a lot!

This time, it is the MQTT server that is not responding to the TCP SYN packets from the device.

Also, we are working on a new version of the Trace Collector application, which also lets you decode the traces. You can try it yourself by installing the Trace Collector V2 preview application in nRF Connect for Desktop.

After decoding the trace, you can open it in Wireshark, so that you can inspect the IP traffic yourself.

I am sorry, I have used the iBasis sim card which came with the Thingy. Even though the nrf cloud is still showing me data for the sim card, it doesn't seem to be working.

Anyway, I still have a sim card that works for sure. I have now created two trace files. The first with the new broker incl credentials and a second trace with the original mqtt_simple sample and a free broker without credentials (which works perfectly).

Can you please check it again?

Edit: I had to refresh the nrf Cloud. The Sim were out of data. sorry. So this part is solved but I have still the problem with the credentials

Looking at the trace shows that the device gets two DNS server addresses from the network.

However, when the device tries to get the address for the hostname, neither of the DNS servers respond to the query.

What SIM card are you using? Could you be out of data?

Are you able to get the address of other hostnames?

Hi,

Error 116 means a timeout, so there might be a problem before you even get to the MATT connect request.

Could you take a modem trace, so we can look at the IP traffic between the device and the server?
