wohoo, think I managed to compile something now, yet to check if it works. I had to install 32-bit python 2.7.9 to fix the last issue above.

Yep, downgrading to 2.7.9 from 2.7.10 fixed the "file format not recognized" issue. But still it won't complete without errors. Hitting numerous of this error now: "CMakeFiles_s130_nrf51_ble_driver.dir/objects.a(ble_driver_pyPYTHON_wrap.c.obj):ble_driver_pyPYTHON_wrap.c:(.text+0x88b): undefined reference to `_imp__PyString_AsString'"

Solved the swig_dir issue, (added SWIG_DIR as new env. variable). But now I got a yet another issue: "C:/Python27/libs/libpython27.a: error adding symbols: File format not recognized collect2.exe: error: ld returned 1 exit status" "file format not recognized".. Could it be some x32 vs x64 bit linker issue. I'm on python 2.7.10, but I guess this was tested on 2.7.9 ?

Ok, that worked, but now I got another issue. It is complaining about not finding SWIG_DIR, but running either "swig -swiglib" command or "cmake -P FindSWIG.cmake" does return the correct path to swig 2.0.12

Hi,
check that you are using MinGW versjon 4.8.x. I've seen that using 4.9.x produces the errors you describe.
