I am confused about the advertising types. For example, what's data type does the ad type stand for? What's the maximum storage length of the data type?

I think you just need to use BLE_GAP_AD_TYPE_MANUFACTURER_SPECIFIC_DATA then because you can practically put anything you like in the manufacturer specific data.

You can see the list of the different advertising types and what they mean here.

The function bearer_adtype_add adds the input AD type to the list of accepted AD types.
