We've been trying to transfer data from 52840 custome board to android device via USB.
52840 device could be detected after connection but it cannot be accessed since android device manager shows "no driver".
Should we install any driver

RE: NRF52840 USB driver for Android

Hi Ava

Android is Linux based, and Linux devices shouldn't need a driver. Those .ini files are there in order to make it work in Windows.

Jimmy Wong made a blog post on this some time back:
https://jimmywongiot.com/2020/04/21/how-to-communicate-with-android-through-usb-interface-on-nrf52820-nrf52833-nrf52840/

He is using a terminal app on the Android side in order to communicate with the nRF device over CDC ACM.

Could you try something similar and see if it works?

Best regards
Torbjørn

RE: NRF52840 USB driver for Android

Hi Torb,

Thanks for replying.

We're using CDC ACM, I found USB driver in ...\examples\usb_drivers folder. It's a .ini file so I'm not quite sure if I could apply it on android.

Thanks,

Which USB class are you using on the nRF52840?

If you use the CDC ACM class for instance you will typically not need to install a driver, but I don't know how well this works on Android.
