I'm afraid I can't answer for how SIM808 works. There are several tutorials, and guides, and previously answered questions in DevZone. E.g. have a look at the "Writing device drivers for UART peripherals". The nRF Connect SDK tutorial series is also encouraged to read, although it is currently "outdated", written for NCS v1.5.0.

Regarding connection to CloudMQTT, please see the MQTT documentation and the various MQTT samples available on how to configure connection details.

Can you please provide a tutorial to perform MQTT with nRF52840+SIM808 step bt step? I have checked zypher but it's not in detail. how can I change credentials to connect cloudmqtt and how can I change baud rate to communicate with SIM808?

Please see my initial response. You will need to combine gsm_modem and an mqtt sample.

You will need to select the sample by manually by clicking on the "three-dots" button

Then navigate to the gsm_modem folder zephyr\samples\net\gsm_modem\

I have selected the same setting but not getting gsm_modem project?

Can you please elaborate what you are trying to achieve? You will need to port your application from nRF5 SDK to NCS, based Generic GSM Modem sample add the MQTT library.

I think I see the what may be causing the error. The mqtt_simple is designed for use with the nRF9160, and not the nRF52840. If possible, I would recommend looking at the nRF9160 which includes an LTE IoT modem.

That is strange, you should not receive any errors when building the mqtt_simple sample. When installing v1.6.1 via Toolchain Manager, please make sure that you are not behind a firewall which can block certain files.

Also, we have seen strange behavior with the build system, when the path is too long. To which path did you install the SDK environment?

When opening the project via "Open nRF Connect SDK project" in SES, can you please take a screenshot of the settings that you use? I.e. board name, build directory, etc.

What version of NCS are you running? Have tried to customize the code in any way? Building the mqtt_simple from NCS v1.6.1 does not provide any errors on my side using Segger Embedded Studio Nordic Edition 5.50c.

Please make sure to use an official tag of NCS, with NCS 1.6.1 being latest, but the release candidate for 1.7.0 is also available. The latest/master branch tends to be more unstable as this may have new features under testing.

How did you install NCS? Please try with the Toolchain Manager found in the nRF Connect for Desktop software.

You will need to port you application from nRF5 SDK to nRF Connect SDK to use the example I linked, there is a big difference between the two SDK. The nRF Connect SDK is constantly evolving, and is more open source which allows users to easily contribute via Github. E.g. to implement newer Bluetooth 5 features, one must to nRF Connect SDK in order to develop using Bluetooth 5. NCS will be the future SDK for our products, but the nRF5 SDK will still be supported.

I have already developed an application as a peripheral. I have to add this communication part in that application later. Can I use that example to add to my application?

I'm afraid I do not have that information. This sounds like information that should be stated in the modem, SIM808.
