The nRF Connect for Desktop Bluetooth application is normally used to simulate a BLE device (central or peripheral), so that you have something to test against when you develop your own BLE application.

Say you want to create a Bluetooth peripheral based on the nRF5340, then you can use the PC to simulate the central device in order to verify whether or not your peripheral is able to advertise, connect, exchange data etc.

I am not sure how you were planning to use this tool to configure the nRF5340PDK. To do that you would normally pick one of the Bluetooth samples in the nRF Connect SDK, flash this into your board, and modify the example as needed in order to add the functionality you need.

I was mainly trying to use this feature to configure the nrf5340PDK in regards of BLE, so I cannot fully understand how the dongle will solve this.

Could you please elaborate more?

I confirmed with the team that this is not currently supported. I will check if there are any plans to add support for it, but I expect this to be more for the long term.

For the short term I would recommend buying an nRF52840 dongle.

They cost around 10 Euro's, and can be used both for the nRF Connect for Desktop bluetooth application and the nRF Sniffer.

No, unfortunatelly I only have 2 nrf5340PDKs. Is it something that can be supported?

Do you have any other Nordic DK's or dongles to try with?

I am not sure if the nRF5340PDK is supported by the nRF Connect for Desktop bluetooth application, but I will check this with the development team.
