Ok will do, appreciate the advice !!. im also curious is it typically prefered to develop on linux or windows for zephyr (or does it really matter at all) ?

Yes, I would not recommend having SDK folders inside SDK folders like that, so cleaning up all the SDK files and starting over sounds like a good idea.

I would also shorten the path, for example make a C:/ncs, then go into the Toolchain Manager settings and set that as the install directory. This may avoid some other issues.

Yeah i did, although initially i was following the getting started from zephyr directly.
should i just do a clean wipe and reinstall of the sdk and the toolchain ?
or would changing the zephyr base fix that ?
An image of my sdk root folder if that clears it up

Hi,

Did you install nRF Connect SDK using the Toolchain Manager?
If so, do you get the same errors when using the bash terminal from the dropdown menu in Toolchain Manager?

You appear to have different ZEPHYR_BASE set as a system variable, and this is causing the issues.
