&lt;p&gt;The hci_rpmsg sample is used whenever you want to run the Bluetooth host and the application in the application core of the nRF5340, and the Bluetooth controller in the network core.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;In order to set up the nRF5340 as a HCI device over UART you should use the &lt;a href="https://docs.zephyrproject.org/latest/samples/bluetooth/hci_uart/README.html"&gt;hci_uart&lt;/a&gt; sample instead.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
