Power optimization and alterations to our example projects are expected to be made on your side, and we can help you with techincal questions if you run into issues during development.

For example, the APP_ADV_DURATION define in our example projects is what's used to modify the advertising duration If you want it to advertise for I.E. 10 seconds this define should be set to 1000.

For current consumption I would suggest checking out my colleague Scott's blog post on ways to optimize current conusmption in nRF52 designs. This is good both for hardware design and software development.

I wanted to connect to the central device, but do you know this connection adds more power to the power consumption in comparison to Beacon advertising? And about the heart rate application, can you provide more detail about it? In the description of this example, it is mentioned that "This application is not power-optimized!" and the code stop advertising after 3 minutes. How can I solve these problems?

Yes, there are multiple example projects in the nRF5 SDK that does what you describe, but you need to decide on whether you actually want to connect to the central device (for added security) or just advertise the data every 5 or 10 seconds for anyone to pick up. For having the device in a connection you can check out the ble_app_hrs heart rate application for instance or the beacon application for just advertising. I think you need to provide more details as to what exactly you want to do for me to give you any further suggestions.

yes I checked the online profiler and it seems with connection interval in some seconds I can reduce the power consumption. do you have any suggestions or example in the sdk based on the requirements of my project?

Adding sensor data in your advertising dataand scan response data as long as there aren't too many bytes. This does of course require that the scanning device is continuously scanning, or else I would recommend a connection instead I think where the device could go to sleep between transmissions. Have you checked out the Online Power Profiler on DevZone which can give you a few estimates on what current consumption to expect during advertising versus connections and so on?

I prefer to be to be secured but as I said the main concern is power and sending just my data not something like uuid or rssi or...

A beacon generally is an advertising device that does not connect to a central device but just advertises data in 31 byte advertising packets and alternatively a scan response packet of the same size. Please note that this is not very secure compared to connecting to a central device and bonding to encrypt the connection before transmitting data, as any BLE scanning device will be able to detect and read this data. Will security be a high concern for you?

Hi simnor,

I am using nrf52832 with nRF5_SDK_17.0.2. in my project I have a very limited power budget (80 uA on average) so the most important thing is the power efficiency. I did not check with Dien code yet because actually, I don't know what is the meaning of the Beacon! I want to pack my data from different sensors and just send this bytes at a short time and receive these bytes at the receiver side. then using serial communication to import them into Matlab. the main challenge for me is to find the best way to send these data with maximum power efficiency.

What exactly are you struggling with on your end? Which SDK are you using for development, the nRFConnect SDK (NCS) or nRF5 SDK? Did you have any issues with the example project Dien Nguyen shared with you?

ESP32 is a type of Wifi & Bluetooth MCU. And here is my example https://github.com/dienvx1997bn/nRF52-SHT1x-read-and-adv-data. the UUID is a list of bytes contained in the advertise message, so the scanner can "see" it and decrypt data

i have similar example, send sensor data from nrf52832 to esp32 via BLE by changing uuid bytes in advertise message from iBeacon example. it is the most battery saving which i can found
