So for testing I tried to compile the "Hello word" example by setting the board configuration file (ncs\v1.6.1\ zephyr\ boards\ arm\ nrf9160dk_nrf9160 \ nrf9160dk_nrf9160_common.dts) as follows

RE: SPM HARD FAULT by changing the UART0 baud rate setting

Good to hear.
Can you test with this fix: spm: kconfig: use SYSTICK as system clock driver instead of RTC1 by hakonfam · Pull Request #6359 · nrfconnect/sdk-nrf (github.com)?

NCS1.8.0 is close to release, you may see this fix released with a later version of NCS, anyway you can use this directly to your current NCS now.

Best regards,

Based on the current roadmap, I do not suggest you continue using SPM with this issue since you can hardly get further support on your development. It would be quite a risk to develop a new product base on a component that is going to be deprecated.

Instead, I can help you if you have any concerns about TF-M. TF-M only requires a dedicated UART port for debugging purposes and it is disabled by default.

Best regards,

I am very sad that there is no solution to correct the problem using SPM. The solution you propose to use TF-M has negative implications for my project. In my project only one UART is available and TF-M requires a dedicated uart, besides there are many other differences.

Don't have any suggestions for using SMP with serial speeds other than 115200?
Please help me.

Sorry for the late follow-up. It is a bit hard to find proper help for the current SPM because we have decided to deprecate SPM shortly. It will be replaced by TF-M so I think this should be resolved using TF-M as the secure component instead of SPM. You can find more useful information about TF-M from the following pages:
