I have found the cause of the problem. I use the ESB library, but only ESB_PROTOCOL_ESB when configuring ESB_protocol. Anyway, I would recommend you take a look at our ESB library, and check the <a href="https://developer.nordicsemi.com/nRF_Connect_SDK/doc/latest/nrf/ug_esb.html#backward-compatibility">backward compatibility</a> setting (i.e. take a look at what this define actually do in the library)</p><div style="clear:both;"></div>
