Yes, the FTDI can be selected and works (with AT-client), the GUI is and you see there is an UP arrow/triangle at the right side of the device (currently closing the port) = Thus for usability the 'SELECT DEVICE' bar should also have a DOWN arrow/triangle, (corresponding the old layout).

Are you able to connect to and use device after unchecking 'show only supported devices'?

I see the issue now, its usability bug in v2!

see v1 had nice indication of selection:

but v2 has confusing title bar and DISABLED 'MODEM PORT' dropdown like:

and we have to click the 'SELECT DEVICE' title bar (no indication of an interactive button) to get finally the devices, including FTDI:

The v1 had checkbox
"Auto device/port filter"
see
infocenter.nordicsemi.com/index.jsp
with this unchecked, the FTDI was shown.

The new v2 now has checkbox
"Show only supported devices"
at any check/uncheck, FTDI is never shown.
