&lt;p lang="en-GB"&gt;In general, you might want to use one of the nRF9160 &lt;a href="https://infocenter.nordicsemi.com/topic/ps_nrf9160/spim.html"&gt;SPI peripherals&lt;/a&gt; to communicate with the MCP2515. You can either use &lt;a href="https://developer.nordicsemi.com/nRF_Connect_SDK/doc/1.7.1/zephyr/reference/peripherals/spi.html#c.spi_is_ready"&gt;Zephyrs interface&lt;/a&gt; or the &lt;a href="https://github.com/NordicSemiconductor/nrfx/blob/v2.5.0/hal/nrf_spim.h"&gt;nrfx drivers&lt;/a&gt; for that.&lt;/p&gt;
