The "issue" you have is expected behaviour, since the firmware send the device in idel mode while in a debugger session.

Hi Jonathan, thanks for your support,
our setup is quite simple:

onboard 3.3V regulator (sourced from external lab power supply 7V).
JTAG is the 10 pin debug-out (P19 on the DK V1.0), but on our board we only use SWDIO+CLK,GND).
peripheral: flash on SPIM.
peripheral: audio amp on I2S and I2C.
on-board antenna quite identical to DK, matching circuit, just LTE (800 MHz Band 20 optimized for prototype); no GPS.

For supply, any issue with connecting a 3.3V board to debug P19 of DK with 3.0V?

Could you share more about the setup, how is the board powered, are you using a 10-pin cable?

Update: it seems to be related to the jtag SWDIO+CLK connections to the custom board (loop from nRF9160 DevKit). Without an active SES debugger session (and no RTT-Viewer connected), it works quite reliable (instead using an UART console for LOG out).
