&lt;p&gt;Since&amp;nbsp;&lt;span&gt;nRF52840 (PCA10059) doesn&amp;#39;t have&amp;nbsp;the on-board debugger (OBD), it cannot program the chip. You need a DK which have&amp;nbsp;the on-board debugger (OBD) such as &lt;a href="https://www.nordicsemi.com/Products/Development-hardware/nRF52-DK"&gt;nRF52DK&lt;/a&gt;, &lt;a href="https://www.nordicsemi.com/Products/Development-hardware/nRF52840-DK"&gt;nRF52840DK&lt;/a&gt;, &lt;a href="https://www.nordicsemi.com/Products/Development-hardware/nRF52833-DK"&gt;nRF52833DK&lt;/a&gt;.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;span&gt;If you want to update via BLE DFU, it still needs to program bootloader to nRF52833 at first.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
