UART Peripherial_uart doesn't support the USB dongle by default, supported boards listed on this page;

For the central/client side you want to use I would suggest creating a new ticket as Leo suggests, as we try to keep each ticket to one subject.

The Nordic UART service does exactly that (printing throughput data), it transmits UART data over BLE and prints it over UART on the other side.

Also I tried the example peripheral without the buttons using the nrf52840 dongle and it just hangs with all its leds light up

Suggest open a separate ticket on devzon for bluez, bleak lib support.

OK thanks. Further along the line, I would like to use a non-nordic device to act as a client (eg using bluez, bleak). Are there any library support for those?

peripheral receives data via call back function: in main.c bt_receive_cb(); data send is triggered over button press. button 4: request connection parameter update. button 3: start data send.

I had a look at the example. I am having trouble as to how peripheral receives the data and also how the example use the throughput send function

I would also suggest checking out this novelbits guide on achieving the maximum throughput using Bluetooth LE 5. It should give you an indicator of what the maximum throughput will be and what to enable in order to achieve it.
