I have observed the same problem several times in the past months on modem FW 1.3.0. I also need a power cycle to fix the behavior (an NRF reset does not help).

I haven't been able to take traces for now.

Do you have a nRF9160-DK available? If so, you can use that one to replicate the issue and take a modem trace

Hi,

we do not use any nRF9160 GPIOs with exception of AT command UART (other GPIOs are NC).

All GPIO functions are on nRF52840 who is used as app MCU.

We use nRF52840 because of BT, so nRF9160 acts just as modem through Serial LTE modem app.

modem traces is only available through UART.

Have you tested the "trace collector v2 preview" in the pc-application nrf connect for desktop?

This is unfortunately not available at this time.

Don't you have two gpios that you can use for fetching the modem trace? For instance by disabling one part of your fw that uses GPIOs?

Sure 29 0 0 0 1 1 1 0 1 User authentication failed according Table 9.9.4.4.1: ESM cause information element is MME issue.

But the point is, that after nRF9160 power-cycle this behaviour dismiss immediately with 100% probability for all test failed nRF9160.

How can we reset nRF9160 state without power cycle please ?

This indicates that the network is reporting failure to attach.

EMM #19: Cause #19 – ESM failure

ESM #29: Cause #29 – User authentication or authorization failed

I would recommend that you check with your network provider wrt. to these reported cause codes.

This indicates that you are running on the engineering sample?
